2nd scan results

Yesterday we were in London to collect my PET scan results that I had done last week. I had a whole body scan to find out more details of where the cancer is. I haven’t had many PET scans due to the radiation that they inject you with, but it gives a better image because the active cancer cells glow on this type of scan.

We knew that the cancer had come back, and it was on the liver and the lungs and that the chemo had stopped working. The professor wanted to see me in London and not give the results over the phone, I was worried about that too. I have also started to get hard lumps on my hands and back. Each time I showed this to a doctor they have said, with pancreatic cancer there is a chance it can go to the skin.

This was the second time I have met Professor Jiao, he has a very smily face which instantly puts you at ease, you cant help but smile back, he could tell me I have an hour left and I would still be smiling! We sat, he said he can see 2 small tumours in the liver, and nothing else! I asked about the ones in the lung and he said it looked like it was just an infection as its not showing now, I showed him the lumps on my back and hand and he said they’re abscesses because of the amount of chemo I have had and that its is not cancer and the two in the liver can be ablated.

He said that I am an usual case, so its time to treat it as such, but all in all, and going on now for five years, I am doing well, that after all this time its only in 2 small areas.

London was great, we stayed in Chelsea and ate a lot there!

Also, I have had a meeting with the doctors at Christies in Manchester, unfortunately there is no trials for Pancreatic Cancer but, there are general trials and I have been put on one called Target – The doctors will be testing my blood to see if there are anything they can do via my DNA and also there taking some of the cancer and growing it in a mouse to test different drugs for research for cancer research.

Speaking of such, my brother James is doing the London marathon this year for Cancer Research, this is the first time he has done a marathon, and I am sure he wont mind me writing, he runs a lot, but not marathon level! but, each update of his Just Giving page, his runs have become longer and last week he did a 21 mile run. Thank you James for doing this! good luck! and if you would like to sponcer James please click on this link – https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/JamesGill1

Also a gentalman called Henk who reads this blog has put me touch with a clinic that I am going to next week to see if am able to get prescription drugs that slow down certain cancers. I will write more about that after the meeting but thanks Henk.

So a lot happing with the ablation starting in ten days time.
